Wow, my first blog post!  I'm smiling in this picture, but if you look closely you'll see that I'm pretty freaked out about this too.  I have been wanting to do this for some time now, but with young kids and trying to build my business it's been a rough ride these last couple of years.  I feel like it's the right time now because my youngest is now four and I have a lot of upcoming projects to post about, so I figured- "hey, why not?!"  By the way, the design of this blog is still evolving, so please bare with me:)

The reason I started this blog is to inspire you to try new fabrics, textures, mediums, and techniques in your shoe making projects.  I'll share what I make and ask you about what your making.  It would be great if we could swap ideas and inspire each other!

So let's start now!  I'm working on a new, sleeker looking ballet flat with a pointed toe and a variety of easy add-on options to change the entire look.  I'm currently working on about eight pairs of these.  I have them all traced out and now I just need to cut them out and sew them together.  I'll share the finished shoes as I go.
I must say I'm most excited about the patchwork fabric on the top.  It's called Enchino Fall 2011 and it can be found here on Etsy here.  It's a medium-weight Japanese fabric that is 55% linen and 45% cotton.
